Marsha Fleming Holland

After graduating from Clinton High School, I entered Mississippi College and graduated in August, 1969 with a B.S. in General Business. During my time at MC, I worked in the Mississippi College Library from June, 1968, until December, 1970.

In August, 1968, I married Robert Holland, who is also a graduate of Mississippi College. In January, 1971, we moved to Texas, so I could attend graduate school in library science. I received a Masters in Library Science in August, 1972, and began work as a College Reference Librarian that same month, working until May, 1978.

From 1978 until 1989, much time was spent raising our two children, Whitney and David, and all the assorted activities in which they were participating.  Once they were both in school all day, I went to work part time as a Reference Librarian for SMU.  In 1999, as Whitney began college, I retired.

Robert and I have enjoyed some special trips…a few overseas trips before the children were born, and some closer to home in more recent years.  For our 30th anniversary, we took a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands.  When we were traveling in Maine in the fall of 2010, Robert achieved a goal of visiting all 50 of our United States.  I still lack 11 states!

God has blessed our family with Brett, Whitney’s husband and Andrea, David’s wife.  Brett and Whitney have a boy and a girl.  David and Andrea have two girls and one boy, so we are the proud grandparents of five!  What fun!

In 2008, with the encouragement of Amylou Douglas, I was able to do the research necessary to join the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).  That began another hobby for me….genealogy!  Other hobbies are Bible studies, reading, needlepointing, movies, music, going to see my grandchildren and other relatives.
