Coach Hap Hudson

Coach Hap Hudson is one of the newest members of the Mississippi College Sports Hall of Fame. He is now serving his 31st season at MC as a coach and professor. Coach Hudson joined the MC staff after very successful seasons in the high school ranks at Pearl, Durant, Clinton and Moss Point.

Coach Hudson was inducted into the Mississippi College Sports Hall of Fame in April 2000 for his athletic achievements both on and off the field. Coach Hudson earned four letters in football as a center and two in baseball from 1955 - 1959 at MC. In 1968, he was named Little Dixie Conference Coach of the Year.

In addition to his duties as coach of the Choctaw defensive line, Coach Hudson also served MC as the head athletic trainer for 21 years. He is a licensed trainer in the Mississippi Athletic Trainers Association and received the Athletic Trainer of the Year award for 1994 as given by the American Athletic Trainers Association. He has also been classified as a Certified Sports Medicine Trainer. He is the pro scout coordinator for the Chocs and serves as assistant professor in the School of Education.

Coach Hudson earned the Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Mississippi College. He is a member of Phi Delta Kappa. He and his wife, Johnnie Ruth, are the parents of five children, David, Deborah, Karen, Melinda, and Brian. They have eleven grandchildren.
