Dwight Massengale

Dwight was born in Arkansas in March 27, 1948 to Hubert and Dorothy Massengale.  The Massengale’s relocated from Jackson to Clinton when he was in the first grade.

After graduating from Clinton, he attended the University of Florida.  Though primarily a journalist and artist, Dwight was a Master Carpenter, specializing in home restorations.  He was a political activist and loved animals.  He lived most of his adult life in Florida.

Dwight died Saturday, March 15, 2009, of natural causes at his home in Gainesville, Florida.  After a memorial service he was interred at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Beth Blount Garriga’s childhood memory of Dwight was every October he always brought a transistor radio to school to listen to the World Series (in school)!

In the sixth grade Mrs. Crain chose Dwight and Amylou Douglas to go with a couple of graduate students from Mississippi College to participate in standardized testing.  But Dwight and Amylou were much more excited to be riding in a PV544 1960 Volvo and getting out of class.
