Bill Burgess

Bill, as we remember him, in 6th Grade and in his college years at MC.

First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to track me down and renew a memorable friendship. Also, the work you have done with the class of '66 at CHS is terrific. I look forward to reading about many of them.

I will put my bio on fast-forward since I left Clinton after the summer of the 9th grade. We moved to Greenwood where I attended the 10th grade. We moved to Sandy Springs, GA, where I attended the 11th grade. We moved to Leland, MS, where I attended the 12th grade and, fortunately, graduated.

I went back to Clinton where I attended Mississippi College and graduated in '70 with a BS in Biology. The very best thing that I took from Mississippi College was my wife of now 32 years, Delores Neal of Memphis, TN.

After graduating from MC in June of '70, I found myself in Parris Island, SC in August, '70 serving my country in the U.S. Marine Corp. I remained on active duty in Millington, TN at the Naval Air Station until January, '72 when I attended the University of Tennessee Dental School in Memphis.

Delores completed her Master's Degree in English at the University of Memphis and taught school while I attended dental school.

We have three children: Louis--31, Neal--28, and Jennifer--25.

Louis is married to a wonderful girl, Dawn, and they have given us three awesome grandchildren: Allton--4, Emma Grace--3, and Hadden--1. Louis has practiced dentistry with me in Memphis for the past six years.

My son, Neal, attends the University of Memphis, working towards an education degree.

And, my daughter, Jennifer, graduated from Samford University in Birmingham and now lives in Memphis. She is presently working at Starbucks (one of our favorite hangouts!).

Two words describe my life the older I get: grace and mercy. But by the grace of God, where would I be. But, by His mercy, never could I be able to carry on today.

I am so glad to be thought of in the group "Friends of CHS '66." I look forward to keeping up with many old friends.

Sincerely,

Bill
